Azerbaijan extends social support funding for war veterans and martyrs’ families

The period for allocating funds to provide social support to war veterans with disabilities and families of martyrs has been extended through 2029.

“Operative Information Center-OMM” reports that the extension is set out in amendments to a decree on financing measures related to the social protection and support of people with disabilities and families of martyrs, signed by President Ilham Aliyev.

Under the decree, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population will additionally finance the following measures in 2022–2029 from state-mandated personal insurance funds accumulated during that period:

- In accordance with the president’s decrees No. 569 of June 20, 2014, and No. 2449 of January 25, 2021, people with disabilities resulting from the defense of the territorial integrity, independence and constitutional order of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as families of martyrs, will be provided with apartments or individual houses;

- People with disabilities will receive rehabilitation equipment and services in accordance with Azerbaijan’s Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

The funding period had previously been set to run through 2026.
