Azerbaijani customs officials have successfully prevented an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of pharmaceutical products into the country. The operation was carried out by the staff of the Tovuz Customs Office of the State Customs Committee.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing the Committee, a freight vehicle arriving from Turkiye was subjected to a customs inspection at the "Red Bridge" customs post. During the inspection of the vehicle's trailer, various types of medicinal preparations were discovered hidden from customs control and not declared to the authorities. The seized contraband includes:
- 10,449 convalutes
- 1,269 boxes
- 848 vials
- 68 needles
An investigation is currently underway into the fact. The State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan continues to strengthen measures against the illegal importation of medical products to ensure public health and safety. The "Red Bridge" customs post, located on the border with Georgia, serves as a vital transit point for international cargo entering Azerbaijan from the west, including shipments originating from Turkiye and Europe.
