The Milli Majlis (National Assembly) has approved a memorandum on Climate Week and a meeting of the Adaptation Committee.
At a session held today, the Milli Majlis discussed a draft law on approving the “Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement concerning Climate Week-4 and the 30th meeting of the Adaptation Committee.”
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the bill was put to a vote and adopted in a single reading.
Climate Week-4 and the Adaptation Committee meeting are part of international cooperation under the United Nations climate framework. The UN Framework Convention on Climate Change provides the basis for global negotiations on limiting climate change and adapting to its effects; the Paris Agreement and Kyoto Protocol are agreements adopted under that framework.
