The Republic of Azerbaijan has approved an Action Plan aimed at strengthening the potential of the national vocational education system to meet modern economic demands.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Prime Minister Ali Asadov has signed a decree to this effect. According to the order, sectoral commissions involving relevant employers will be established to develop and approve professional and qualification standards for specialties taught at newly constructed or renovated vocational institutions. The plan also envisions the implementation of international dual diploma programs and the organization of continuous professional development, including advanced training and retraining for teaching and engineering staff, to ensure they adapt to the evolving labor market.
The modernization of vocational education is a key component of Azerbaijan's socio-economic development strategy, aimed at diversifying the national economy and reducing reliance on the oil sector. By aligning the curriculum with international standards and industry requirements, the government seeks to enhance the competitiveness of the local workforce and provide specialized personnel for the country's growing industrial and service sectors.
