On April 29, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov received Valeria Csukasi, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, to discuss the current state and future prospects of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Uruguay. The meeting focused on deepening political dialogue, intensifying mutual visits, and strengthening institutional cooperation between the two nations.
The Press Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) told the Operative Information Center-OMM that both parties expressed satisfaction with the agreement on cooperation between their respective diplomatic academies. Discussions included opportunities for personnel training, exchange of experience, and the implementation of joint training programs. Furthermore, the officials explored potential steps toward visa liberalization to facilitate mutual travel for citizens, while emphasizing the importance of the visit of Azerbaijan's First Deputy Minister of Economy to Uruguay last year as a significant contribution to trade development.
Following the high-level reception, a formal round of political consultations was held in the capital, led by Azerbaijan's Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov and Deputy Minister Valeria Csukasi. These consultations serve as a vital mechanism for aligning foreign policy objectives and expanding Azerbaijan's diplomatic footprint in South America. In recent years, Azerbaijan has actively sought to diversify its international partnerships, leveraging its strategic position and energy resources to build stronger economic and political bridges with Latin American nations.
