Azerbaijan's Defense Minister, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov, received a delegation led by Admiral Giacinto Ottaviani, the National Armaments Director of the Italian Ministry of Defense, who is currently visiting Azerbaijan on July 9.

During the meeting, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov praised the cooperation in the defense sector, which is based on a strategic partnership between the two nations. He emphasized that Azerbaijan-Italy relations hold special significance in the military sphere, mirroring the strong ties established in various other sectors.
Expressing his gratitude for the warm reception and hospitality, Admiral Giacinto Ottaviani highlighted the exceptional importance of reciprocal visits and the exchange of experience between the two countries. The Italian official expressed his confidence that the deepening military cooperation between Azerbaijan and Italy would contribute significantly to enhancing the defense capabilities of both states.
The meeting, which was also attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Italian Republic to Baku, Luca Di Gianfrancesco, featured an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest, including cooperation in military, military-technical, and military education fields.
Italy and Azerbaijan have maintained a robust strategic partnership for years, characterized by strong economic ties, particularly in the energy sector, and a growing collaboration in defense and security matters, reflecting the deepening bilateral relations between the two countries.
