Baku has hosted the next round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and Finland, focusing on strengthening bilateral ties and regional cooperation.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) told Operative Information Center-OMM that the Azerbaijani delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Fariz Rzayev, while the Finnish delegation was headed by Sari Rautio, Director General of the Euro-Atlantic Department of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland.

During the consultations, the parties discussed the current state of political relations between the two countries. They emphasized the importance of maintaining a continuous dialogue through mutual high-level visits and meetings on the sidelines of international events. The discussions also covered prospects for development in economic, humanitarian, and educational fields, as well as cooperation within the framework of international organizations. Furthermore, the delegations reviewed strategic energy and transport projects implemented through the initiative and participation of Azerbaijan.

The Azerbaijani side provided detailed information on the current regional situation, the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process, and the large-scale restoration, reconstruction, and demining activities being carried out in the liberated territories. An exchange of views also took place regarding other regional and international issues of mutual interest.

Political consultations serve as a vital mechanism for Azerbaijan to align its foreign policy priorities with European partners. These meetings facilitate a deeper understanding of Azerbaijan's strategic role in ensuring Europe's energy security and its efforts toward establishing lasting peace in the South Caucasus region following the restoration of its territorial integrity.
