Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York, according to statements issued by the foreign ministries of both countries.
The ministers underscored the importance of peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia and reviewed progress made since a summit in Washington in August 2025. At that meeting, Baku and Yerevan signed a joint declaration and initialled a peace agreement.
Economic and transport links discussed
Particular attention was given to unblocking economic and transport infrastructure between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry said.
The two sides described trade and transit interactions between their countries as “practical examples of the benefits of peace”. They also exchanged views on the possibility of advancing a positive agenda on various multilateral platforms.
“The ministers agreed to continue their direct dialogue,” the Azerbaijani statement said.
The Armenian Foreign Ministry released an identical statement following the meeting.
