Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi have held a telephone conversation to discuss rising regional tensions.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Azerbaijan released a statement regarding the exchange, which focused on the current security situation surrounding Iran.
During the conversation, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov expressed concern over the recent escalation in the region. He emphasized that Azerbaijan has consistently urged all parties to refrain from rhetoric and actions that could lead to instability in and around Iran. The minister noted that existing problems must be resolved exclusively through dialogue and diplomatic channels, in accordance with the norms and principles of international law.
It was specifically emphasized that Azerbaijan will never allow its airspace or territory to be used by any state for military operations against neighboring Iran or any other country.
The ministers also exchanged views on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest. This statement reinforces Azerbaijan's long-standing foreign policy principle of maintaining balanced relations with its neighbors while upholding regional security. As a key player in the South Caucasus, Azerbaijan continues to promote the platform of regional cooperation and non-interference, seeking to prevent the spillover of external conflicts into the Caspian region.
