At least nine people, including several children, were killed in a shooting in Erie, Pennsylvania, authorities said on Saturday.
A gunman opened fire inside and outside a home before dying from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, ABC News reported, citing authorities.
Police Chief Rick Lorah described the scene as one of the most difficult and heartbreaking officers and investigators had encountered.
“The loss of life is devastating, and the circumstances we are working through are deeply disturbing,” Lorah said.
Authorities have not released the identities of the victims or the suspected gunman. The motive remains unknown, and investigators are working to establish the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
