Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan will visit Tehran on Oct. 4 to discuss regional cooperation and Armenia-Iran relations in meetings with Iranian officials.
Regional agenda of the visit
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei told IRIB that the visit is part of ongoing consultations aimed at expanding bilateral ties and strengthening regional peace and security.
The talks are also expected to cover the situation in the South Caucasus. Armenia, Azerbaijan and Türkiye are among the key participants in the region’s evolving developments.
Trade and transit ties
Tehran and Yerevan maintain regular diplomatic contacts on security, transport links and cooperation. The visit comes as the two countries seek to expand economic ties.
Iranian and Armenian officials met at the Norduz border terminal on Oct. 1 to discuss increasing the movement of commercial vehicles, improving customs procedures and expanding transport and logistics capacity, Iran’s state news agency IRNA reported.
According to IRNA, Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization said exports to Armenia rose 7.5 percent to $385 million in the first seven months of 2026.
Iranian officials also said that improvements to customs procedures and infrastructure could eventually increase the Norduz terminal’s daily capacity to 300 trucks.
Iran and Armenia share a border and have pursued closer cooperation in trade and transport. Border terminals play an important role in facilitating cross-border freight, while regular diplomatic consultations provide a channel for discussing regional security and economic ties.
