President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has highlighted the importance of partnering with the United Kingdom to bring modern weapons to Azerbaijan.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the president made the remarks on Sept. 30 during a meeting with Lord Vernon Coaker, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland’s minister of state for defense.
The president said Azerbaijan had been investing in its defense industry for more than 20 years and was now producing products for both domestic consumption and export.
Aliyev also discussed potential cooperation with leading companies on supplying modern weapons and equipment to Azerbaijan, as well as establishing joint ventures in the country. He emphasized the importance of partnership with the United Kingdom in this area.
Military-technical cooperation can support the development of local defense production, technology transfer and export capabilities. Azerbaijan’s defense industry has expanded its production base in recent years, with a focus on meeting domestic requirements and entering international markets.
