An “Air India” flight bound for New Delhi from Frankfurt was diverted to Jaipur on Wednesday after a suspected hijack alert and an alleged bomb threat, according to Indian media reports.
Flight AI-2030 landed safely at Jaipur International Airport at 9:35 a.m. (0405 GMT) and was moved to an isolation bay for security checks while authorities investigated, “India Today” reported, citing sources.
Preliminary checks found the aircraft’s operations were normal, the report said. Ahmedabad Air Traffic Control had received an emergency signal from the plane for a few seconds at around 9 a.m. (0330 GMT), according to initial information.
The pilot reportedly activated Squawk 7500, an internationally recognised transponder code used to discreetly alert air traffic control to a hijacking or unlawful interference with an aircraft.
Airport management said all passengers were safe and were being deboarded, adding that the situation was normal. The emergency landing followed a bomb threat, “Hindustan Times” reported, citing police sources.
