Members of the Azerbaijan-Russia Intergovernmental State Commission have inspected the implementation progress of the Aghband automobile bridge project in Zangilan.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that this bridge is expected to play a pivotal role in expanding the region's transport and logistics connectivity.

The inspection followed the 24th meeting of the Azerbaijan-Russia Intergovernmental State Commission held today. During the session, the co-chairs—Azerbaijan's Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk—discussed increasing trade turnover, industrial cooperation, energy, agriculture, and the expansion of transport-logistics corridors.

The Aghband bridge is a strategic component of the regional transport infrastructure, designed to link Azerbaijan's main territory with the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic through the territory of Iran. This project is part of Azerbaijan's broader initiative to restore and modernize infrastructure in the liberated territories, transforming the East Zangezur economic region into a major international logistics hub. The bridge will facilitate increased transit volumes along the International North-South Transport Corridor and other regional routes, fostering economic integration across Eurasia.
