Shamakhi player Edgar Adilkhanov has commented on reports linking him with a possible move to Belgian club Gent. Speaking to Azerisport, the Azerbaijan national team member said he had not discussed the matter with either the club’s management or his agent.
Adilkhanov said he had seen the reports, but his agent was also unaware of any such offer. For that reason, the player said he believed the information was inaccurate.
The midfielder described Shamakhi’s 1-1 draw with Zira in the seventh round of the Misli Premier League as a tense match. He said the opponents were well-organized and had a reliable defense. Shamakhi created chances to win but could not convert them.
Adilkhanov said he felt tired after playing for both the senior and under-21 national teams, which was why he came on in the second half against Zira. He said he was working to recover and prepare for the upcoming matches.
The player also said frequent stoppages following VAR interventions had negatively affected his team’s tempo. However, Adilkhanov said the referee had generally handled the match well.
The midfielder said he was satisfied with Shamakhi’s position in the standings and stressed that the team had the potential to climb higher.
