A crude oil tanker was struck by an unknown projectile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz, the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said Thursday.
In a delayed report, UKMTO said it had received information from a verified source that the vessel was hit at 17:09 GMT on Oct. 6.
No casualties were reported. The extent of damage to the tanker and any environmental impact were not known, the agency said.
Authorities are investigating the incident, UKMTO said, advising vessels in the area to exercise caution and report suspicious activity.
