France head coach Zinedine Zidane has spoken about his team’s 4-1 victory over Belgium in the fourth round of the UEFA Nations League group stage. France were trailing until the 77th minute but scored four times late in the match to secure the win.
Zidane said the team regained some confidence after its first goal. He added that France started the match well but lacked pace in the final phase of its attacks.
“Looking at the full 90 minutes, the victory was deserved. Our performance in the second half was really good,” Zidane told UEFA’s website.
The head coach attributed the team’s 10 points to the players’ mentality and the work they had put in. He said relations within the squad were good and that he enjoyed working with the team.
The UEFA Nations League is an international competition for European national teams, with group-stage results determining promotion, relegation and qualification opportunities for the final tournament.
