Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has confirmed reports regarding a visit by the director of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) to Moscow. In a statement to journalists, Peskov confirmed that contacts between Russian and US intelligence services have taken place, as reported by the Operative Information Center-OMM.

The Kremlin spokesperson characterized these communications as a positive step and noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin had been briefed on the meetings. Such high-level intelligence exchanges are historically significant, often serving as a critical backchannel for communication between Washington and Moscow during periods of heightened geopolitical tension.

Addressing the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, Peskov claimed that official Kyiv is facing setbacks on the front lines and that problems within its governance system are deepening. He further described the failure of European nations to account for the reality on the ground in Ukraine as a serious error.

Additionally, the Kremlin spokesperson commented on the situation in Armenia. Peskov acknowledged that complex internal political processes are underway in the country and expressed hope that the situation would be resolved in accordance with Armenian legislation.
