Iran is continuing to rebuild civilian areas, including residential and industrial facilities, hit by Israeli and US attacks during the war. Central Province Governor Mehdi Zandiyeh-Vakili showed journalists reconstruction work at a news conference on Thursday.
Zandiyeh-Vakili said most of the residential and industrial facilities destroyed in the war had been rebuilt with public and private funding. He said 3,000 residential properties in the province had been hit and that none had been used for military purposes.
The governor said 90 percent of the 200 people killed in the wars of 2025 and 2026 were civilians, with women and children accounting for more than half of them.
He said 233 industrial facilities, as well as a small number of military sites, were targeted in the attacks. The remarks came during a visit by foreign media representatives to industrial facilities and civilian areas in the province damaged in the war.
Asked about the bombing of the Khondab heavy-water nuclear reactor in Central Province during the war, Zandiyeh-Vakili said the reactor was not operating at the time of the attack and that no radiation danger arose.
Iranian officials condemned a 2026 strike on a nuclear facility in the province, saying it had been attacked despite being subject to monitoring under the UN inspection regime. Central Province, located in western Iran, is home to industrial sites and nuclear-related facilities.
