The next round of trilateral negotiations between Russia, the United States, and Ukraine is currently underway in Geneva, Switzerland.

The Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing RIA Novosti, that the discussions commenced at 11:00 AM Moscow time. This session, scheduled for February 17-18, marks the third round of high-level talks between the parties aimed at addressing the ongoing conflict.

The Russian delegation is headed by Vladimir Medinsky, Assistant to the Russian President. This follows a previous round of trilateral talks held on February 4-5 in Abu Dhabi, where the Russian side was represented by Admiral Igor Kostyukov, head of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov noted that the change in delegation leadership for the Geneva talks reflects a shift toward broader topics, including complex territorial issues and specific settlement conditions.

The involvement of the United States in these discussions follows the foreign policy shift under US President Donald Trump, who has emphasized a proactive role in mediating international conflicts. Geneva has historically served as a neutral ground for major diplomatic breakthroughs, providing the necessary infrastructure for sensitive security negotiations. These talks are seen as a critical step in de-escalating regional tensions and establishing a framework for long-term stability in Eastern Europe.
