Azerbaijan’s futsal team will fight to win every match and advance from the group stage in the main round of the 2028 Futsal World Cup, acting head coach Elvin Guliyev said.
He said the Czech Republic and Latvia, Azerbaijan’s group opponents, competed in the main round of the most recent European Championship and are strong teams. Despite their apparent status as favorites, Azerbaijan will aim for the best possible result in every match, Guliyev said.
Guliyev said no player in the squad has a serious injury. Although some players have minor injuries, these are not significantly affecting their training or ability to play, he said. The team has been preparing since September, focusing first on physical conditioning, then on technical and tactical work, and finally on preparations for its opponents. Guliyev said the squad is currently in good condition.
The Czech Republic-Azerbaijan match will be played on October 16 at 22:00 Baku time at the Hala Polarka arena in Frýdek-Místek.
