Medalists from the Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships held in Pesaro, Italy, have returned to Azerbaijan.
The gymnasts were welcomed at Heydar Aliyev International Airport by representatives of the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation, relatives and media representatives.
Women’s group makes history
Competing in the senior category, Anahita Bashiri, Zahra Rashidova and Nazrin Zeyniyeva won the gold medal in the balance exercise. It was the first gold medal won by an Azerbaijani women’s group at the World Championships in the history of acrobatic gymnastics in Azerbaijan.
The Azerbaijani group ranked first in the qualification round with 28.330 points and improved its score to 28.580 points in the final, finishing ahead of all its rivals.
Men’s pair wins bronze
Murad Rafiyev and Daniel Abbasov also reached the podium in the balance exercise. The pair finished third in the qualification round with 28.550 points and won the bronze medal in the final after scoring 28.950 points.
Acrobatic gymnastics combines strength, balance, flexibility and precise coordination. World Championship results in the discipline are determined through qualification and final routines, with athletes competing in groups and pairs.
