Military personnel in Azerbaijan are expected to receive higher salaries and pensions.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that military expert Adalat Verdiyev shared the information.
He said measures were being taken to align the salaries and pensions of Azerbaijani Army personnel with advanced international systems:
“According to the information I have obtained, a new reform package in this area is imminent. Finally, the army’s pay system will be based on international standards and will have a unified structure. Salaries will be calculated taking into account the place, nature, conditions and difficulty of service.
Salaries of military personnel serving in the Ministry of Defense are expected to increase by an average of nearly 25% or more. Position-based salaries for personnel receiving base pay will be replaced with rank-based salaries, while the share of rank pay in salaries will be raised to 70%. The pension provision mechanism for Ministry of Defense personnel will also be improved and fully digitized.
This would be particularly timely ahead of the next anniversary of the Patriotic War.”
Military pay and pension reforms are generally intended to standardize compensation, account for differences in service conditions and improve the administration of benefits.
