Azerbaijan and Cambodia have established a joint working group.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev made the announcement during a joint statement to the press with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet in Baku.

The president said Azerbaijan and Cambodia were good partners.

“We actively cooperate and support each other in international organizations. As for bilateral relations, we have also agreed to intensify our ties. We have developed very good political relations and actively cooperate within the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement and the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation,” the head of state said.

He said the sides had also discussed opportunities to expand trade and attract investment.

“We certainly need to determine what can be done to develop trade and investment. We discussed these opportunities in detail and agreed to establish a joint working group that will focus on the practical aspects of trade, economic and investment cooperation,” Ilham Aliyev said.

The United Nations and the Non-Aligned Movement provide multilateral forums where Azerbaijan and Cambodia can coordinate on international issues. The working group is intended to focus on practical measures to develop their bilateral economic ties.
