Trump warns Democrats may seek impeachment if Republicans lose midterms

U.S. President Donald Trump said Democrats could launch impeachment proceedings against him if Republicans lose the congressional midterm elections in November. According to the Associated Press, he made the remarks while addressing supporters in Oklahoma.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Trump stressed the importance of a Republican victory, warning: “If we don’t win, they’ll end up impeaching me.”

Highlighting the significance of the midterm elections, the U.S. president urged Republican voters to take part actively in the vote and support the party’s candidates. He expressed concern that his supporters tend to be less active in elections in which his name is not on the ballot.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin had thanked the U.S. president for his mediation efforts and diplomatic initiatives aimed at resolving the conflict in Ukraine. Midterm elections in the United States determine seats in Congress and can affect the balance of power between the two major parties.
