Tottenham have no plans to sack head coach Roberto De Zerbi despite the team’s poor start to the season. TEAMtalk reports that the London club have not won any of their first six matches, but the club’s leadership continues to back the Italian coach.
The leadership considers De Zerbi the right coach to deliver a long-term project. The club expects the revamped squad to develop a better understanding over time and results to improve. It is also not concerned that the coach might decide to leave of his own accord.
One factor in De Zerbi’s favor is the significant amount the club spent on summer transfers. Tottenham intends to give the coach time to work with the strengthened squad and instill his ideas in the team.
The Italian took charge of Tottenham at the end of March last season, when the team was fighting to stay in the English Premier League. De Zerbi kept the London club in the top flight. Tottenham currently sit 18th in the standings with three points after six rounds.
