Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defense said a threat to the southwestern city of Abha and Khamis Mushait governorate had ended after alarms were activated for a second time on Saturday, Anadolu Agency reported.
In two posts on “X”, the Civil Defense said the threat had passed in both areas. It urged residents to continue following safety instructions and to avoid gathering or filming.
The alarms were issued through Saudi Arabia’s National Early Warning Platform to warn of a threat in the two areas.
Similar alarms had been activated in Abha and Khamis Mushait earlier on Saturday. Authorities announced minutes later that the threat had ended.
Saudi authorities have not disclosed the nature of the threat behind the two rounds of alarms.
The alerts come amid continued military escalation between Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Houthi group since July, including attacks targeting civil aviation facilities and energy infrastructure in the kingdom.
Saudi Arabia has led a military coalition since March 2015 in support of Yemen’s internationally recognized government against the Houthis, who have controlled the capital, Sanaa, and several other provinces since September 2014.
