President Ilham Aliyev has expressed satisfaction with Slovakia's active participation in the reconstruction of the Garabagh region.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the head of state noted during a press statement with Slovak President Peter Pellegrini in Shusha on July 14 that political relations between the two countries are currently at a very high level.
The President emphasized that mutual visits clearly demonstrate this strong partnership:
"Today, Slovakia-Azerbaijan political relations are at a high level. Azerbaijan and Slovakia signed a Declaration on Strategic Partnership in 2024. The implementation of this declaration is evident; naturally, the execution of joint projects requires strong political will. Such active political contacts and the implementation of joint projects demand significant political commitment. Among the issues discussed, traditional topics naturally prevailed. Cooperation in trade, economic relations, energy, military-technical fields, and other areas remain priorities. Open and sincere discussions were held on all these issues, and members of the delegations are in constant contact."
The reconstruction of the Garabagh and East Zangezur economic regions is a top priority for the Republic of Azerbaijan following the liberation of these territories in 2020. The government is actively engaging international partners in the restoration of infrastructure, the construction of "smart villages," and the implementation of green energy projects to facilitate the return of former internally displaced persons to their ancestral lands.
