PSG and France forward Ousmane Dembele has shared his views on his Ballon d’Or nomination, saying he does not intend to try to persuade voters to choose him.
Asked what arguments he could make to convince the “France Football” jury to vote for him, Dembele replied: “I have no arguments. I have never done that. I am not betraying myself. They make the decision, but I am not betraying myself.” The footballer’s comments were reported by “L’Équipe.”
Dembele said campaigning for an individual award was not his approach. He described the winner’s selection as a decision for the jury and stressed that he would not try to influence the process.
A total of 30 footballers have been nominated for the Ballon d’Or. The winner will be announced at a special ceremony in London on Oct. 26.
