The 45-year-old coach said the team had expected to feel tired but secured the result it wanted. Abbasov said he had been concerned after the match against Liechtenstein, but the players recovered within three days.
According to the head coach, Azerbaijan have one friendly and one competitive match ahead. He said he believes the team can win both games.
Abbasov said the referees handled the match fairly and kept the pace high. He said he understood the Lithuania head coach’s dissatisfaction, but added that he, too, had to make a statement.
