At least four people were killed in overnight airstrikes on Kyiv and the surrounding region, while a Ukrainian drone attack killed one person in Russia’s Bryansk region, officials said on Wednesday, according to the source report.
Three people were killed and six others injured in strikes on Kyiv, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said on Telegram. In Vyshgorod, a private house was destroyed and emergency workers found a child born in 2012 beneath the rubble.
“Rescuers tried to save the child. Unfortunately, it was not possible to save her,” Ukraine’s emergency services said in a Telegram statement.
Damage and air defence claims in Ukraine
Authorities said thick smog had spread across Kyiv after the strikes. Smoke and soot from earlier attacks remained close to the ground because of calm weather and an anticyclone. Residents were advised to keep their windows closed.
Ukraine said its air defences destroyed or suppressed five ballistic missiles and 155 drones overnight, including “Shahed” and “Gerbera” drones.
Russia’s Defence Ministry said its forces had used ground-based precision weapons and attack drones against a communications centre in Kyiv, energy facilities in the surrounding region and infrastructure at the port of Izmail in the Odesa region.
The ministry also claimed that Russian forces had struck a cargo vessel carrying military and dual-use supplies to the port of Odesa in the northwestern Black Sea.
Separately, Ukrainian media reported that a Russian drone had entered Moldova.
Fatality reported in Russia’s Bryansk region
Bryansk Governor Egor Kovalchuk said a Ukrainian drone attack had killed one civilian and injured another.
A drone struck a moving civilian car near the village of Zamishevo in Novozybkovsky district, killing the driver on the way to hospital, he said on the Russian social media platform “Max”. Another drone injured a man in Klimovo, who received medical treatment, Kovalchuk added.
Russia’s Defence Ministry separately said its air defences had intercepted and destroyed 384 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones over Russian territory overnight.
The claims made by the Russian and Ukrainian sides could not be independently verified.
