Qatar is relaying messages between the United States and Iran as part of efforts to end their war, the country’s Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.
“Qatar’s mediation efforts are ongoing, and we are currently relaying messages between the American and Iranian sides,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed Al-Ansari told a press conference in Doha.
Asked about the possibility of a large-scale US military attack on Iran, Al-Ansari said Qatar was concerned about any further escalation in the region and was working to help find a peaceful solution.

“We are concerned about any escalation in the region and are working to find a peaceful solution,” Al-Ansari said.
The statement came as tensions between Washington and Tehran continued to rise. In February, the United States and Israel launched a war against Iran, which responded by attacking US assets across the region. A ceasefire agreement was reached in April.
Disputes over Strait of Hormuz remain
Washington and Tehran later signed a memorandum of understanding in June aimed at halting hostilities and maintaining navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
Implementation of the agreement has stalled because of disagreements over security arrangements in the strategic waterway, while tensions between the two sides continue to escalate.
