Porto have signed former England defender Chris Smalling, the club announced. The 36-year-old has joined the Portuguese side as a free agent.
Smalling has signed a contract with Porto until the end of the season. The agreement also includes an option to extend the partnership for another year.
The defender, who made 31 appearances for England, will wear the No. 6 shirt at his new club.
Smalling’s most recent club was Saudi Arabia’s Al-Fayha, where he played from 2024 to 2026. He previously represented Roma, Manchester United and Fulham.
The footballer had been a free agent since July 1.
Smalling began his professional career at Fulham before moving to Manchester United, where he won domestic and European honors. He later established himself as a key defender at Roma, gaining extensive experience in top-level European football.
