Russia and Ukraine exchanged overnight strikes on Friday, leaving at least one person dead and three injured, according to officials from both sides.
A Russian drone hit a residential building in Kyiv’s Darnytskyi district, killing one person and injuring two, prosecutors in the Ukrainian capital said on Telegram. Another Russian attack targeted the Pivdennyi Bridge, prompting authorities to close it in both directions, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said.
Russia reports strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure
Russia’s Defence Ministry said its forces had continued strikes on Ukrainian port and energy infrastructure, as well as vessels it alleged were being used by Ukraine’s armed forces.
The ministry said targets included a road-and-rail bridge over the Dnieper River in Kyiv, an electrical substation near Nalyvaikivka in the Kyiv region and an industrial complex at the port of Izmail in Odesa. It said the sites were used to support Ukrainian military logistics and industry.
The ministry also said a cargo ship in the Black Sea had been hit, alleging it was carrying military equipment and dual-use goods to Odesa for Ukraine’s armed forces. Ukraine’s Air Force said Russia launched 108 attack drones overnight, of which 88 were shot down or suppressed.
Ukrainian drones target Russia’s Volgograd region
In Russia, Ukrainian drones targeted industrial infrastructure in the Volgograd region and a fire broke out at an apartment building, regional Governor Andrey Bocharov said. One person was taken to hospital and the fire was contained, he said.
Russia’s Defence Ministry said its air defences intercepted or destroyed 646 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones over several Russian regions, occupied Crimea, the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.
Claims made by both sides could not be independently verified.
