Russia and Ukraine exchanged accusations on Friday over overnight drone strikes that killed at least three people and injured more than 10 others.
According to the source report, Russian officials said Ukrainian drones targeted several regions, while Ukrainian authorities reported Russian strikes on areas including Kyiv and Odesa.
Damage and casualties reported in Russia
Perm Governor Dmitry Makhonin said air defenses had shot down 39 drones during the overnight attack. One person died from injuries sustained in the strike, he said, adding that cleanup operations were underway at an industrial facility.
In the Ulyanovsk region, Governor Aleksey Russkikh reported damage to industrial and civilian infrastructure. Eight people — seven adults and one child — were injured, with five in moderate condition, he said.
Voronezh Governor Aleksandr Gusev said four people were injured in the regional capital and that 88 Ukrainian drones had been downed. Debris damaged several non-residential and industrial buildings, while two of the injured were hospitalized in moderate condition.
The Novoshakhtinsk oil refinery in the Rostov region was damaged and temporarily halted operations, Governor Yury Slyusar said. He reported no casualties there.
Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed its air defenses had destroyed 592 Ukrainian drones overnight over 18 regions, the Black Sea and Crimea, which Russia illegally annexed in 2014.
Ukraine reports strikes on Kyiv and Odesa
The ministry also said Russian forces had struck a drone assembly and storage site operated by Ukrainian defense technology company “Fire Point” in Boryspil, Kyiv region. It reported attacks on two logistics centers in Odesa and nearby Nerubaiske, as well as port infrastructure and storage facilities in Reni.
Kyiv region Governor Tymur Tkachenko said a production facility in Boryspil district, a warehouse in Brovary district and three private homes in Obukhiv district were damaged. Nine properties were affected in total, with no casualties reported, he said.
Damage was also reported in Kyiv, where one person was initially said to have been injured. The Kyiv City Military Administration later reported that one person had been killed, while residential and non-residential buildings were damaged in several districts.
In the Odesa region, Governor Oleh Kiper said one person was killed and another injured when Russian strikes hit a residential area and logistics facilities belonging to a postal service.
Ukraine’s Air Force said it had shot down 267 of the 295 drones launched by Russia overnight.
Russia and Ukraine have intensified attacks in recent months, targeting logistics hubs, ports and energy infrastructure. Both sides deny deliberately striking civilian infrastructure, saying their attacks focus on military targets or facilities connected to military activity.
