President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received George Walker, chairman and chief executive officer of leading global investment firm Neuberger Berman, on Sept. 25.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the meeting recalled with satisfaction President Ilham Aliyev’s meeting with George Walker in New York last year.
The head of state noted that the signing in February of the “Charter on Strategic Partnership between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the United States of America” had opened a new chapter in relations between the two countries.
The meeting focused on the current state and prospects of investment cooperation between Azerbaijan and Neuberger Berman. The sides exchanged views on new opportunities emerging in global investment markets, projects of mutual interest and the expansion of long-term partnership.
It was noted that the State Oil Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) and Neuberger Berman have maintained effective cooperation since 2016. The parties discussed the results achieved through SOFAZ’s partnership with the company in private equity, private debt and other investment areas, as well as opportunities to participate in new projects.
Founded in New York in 1939, Neuberger Berman is one of the world’s major independent investment firms. The company has $613 billion in assets, while its global private-markets investment platform manages more than $170 billion in investment commitments. The portfolios of the funds in which the platform invests cover more than 10,400 companies, illustrating the scale of Neuberger Berman’s global investment operations.
