Qarabag player Mateus Silva said he believes the team will return to its previous level of play in the new season. He said missing out on European competition had affected the players, but that the international break had come at a suitable time for the team.
Silva said ups and downs are inevitable in football. He noted that several new players had joined the squad and that a new team was taking shape. He stressed that the break had been useful for the group in this respect.
The team needs time to adapt
Addressing Qarabag’s challenge for the league title, the player said their rivals had also strengthened. Naming Neftchi, Turan Tovuz and Sabah, Silva said all teams were trying to perform at their best on the pitch.
He said the Aghdam club’s new players needed time to adapt to the team and its system of play. Silva expressed confidence that the side would recover its previous form, saying: “You will see the Qarabag of old again.”
Silva is happy at Qarabag
Silva confirmed that he had received various offers and said playing in the Champions League carried great prestige. He said he was happy at Qarabag, focused on upcoming matches and had left matters concerning his future to the club and his agent.
