Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis (National Assembly) has approved the Second Additional Protocol to the European Convention on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the bill approving the protocol was submitted for discussion at today’s first meeting of the parliament’s autumn session.
Under the document, the Second Additional Protocol to the European Convention on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters, dated Nov. 8, 2001, was approved with Azerbaijan’s relevant reservations and declarations.
Following discussions, lawmakers put the bill to a vote and adopted it in a single reading.
The protocol is intended to strengthen cooperation among states in criminal proceedings, including the exchange of information and the provision of legal assistance. Such instruments support more effective cross-border investigations while establishing procedures for cooperation between the competent authorities of participating countries.
