Russia extends diesel and marine fuel export ban until Oct. 31, 2026

Russia has extended until Oct. 31, 2026, a temporary ban on exports of diesel, marine fuel and gasoil by direct producers, the Cabinet’s press service said on Wednesday.

“The decree extends the ban on the export of diesel and marine fuel, as well as gasoil, exported from Russia directly by producers, until Oct. 31, 2026, inclusive,” the statement said.

The government said the measure was designed to maintain stability in the domestic fuel market as demand for motor fuel rises during the agricultural harvest season.

Broader fuel export restrictions remain in place

A broader ban on fuel exports remains in effect in Russia through Jan. 31, 2027. The restriction specifically targeting direct producers had previously been due to expire on Sept. 30.

Fuel shortages follow attacks on energy infrastructure

Russia has experienced fuel shortages after Ukrainian drone strikes hit oil refineries and other energy infrastructure, disrupting domestic supplies.
