Yemen’s Houthi group said early Wednesday that it had carried out drone and ballistic missile attacks on airports and military installations in Saudi Arabia.
In a statement on “X”, Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said several drones targeted King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. He described the strike as “precise” and claimed it disrupted air traffic.
Saree also said two operations targeted Abha International Airport and Khamis Mushait Air Base with ballistic missiles and drones. He claimed the attacks disrupted airport traffic and damaged the military base.
In a separate statement, Saree said Houthi forces had targeted three military camps: Dagharir in Jizan, Aakifah in Asir and Al-Mawsim in Jizan, using a large number of ballistic missiles and drones.
Separately, the Saudi-led coalition said on Wednesday that it had intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched by the Houthis toward the Riyadh area.
Coalition spokesman Brig. Gen. Turki al-Maliki said on “X” that the missile was intercepted north of Riyadh after being launched by what he called the “terrorist Houthi militia”.
Al-Maliki also said coalition forces had tracked the missile’s launch platform using intelligence systems in the skies over Sanaa, Yemen’s capital. “We are tracking the launch platform with the Coalition's intelligence system in the skies over Sanaa, and we will destroy it,” he said.
