A skiff carrying seven people approached the tanker about 140 nautical miles southeast of Al Mukalla. The UK Maritime Trade Operations centre said the tanker’s armed security team fired two warning shots.

A small boat carrying seven people approached and fired at a liquefied natural gas tanker about 140 nautical miles southeast of Al Mukalla, Yemen, Anadolu Agency reported, citing the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) centre.

The skiff fired two shots at the tanker, while the vessel’s armed security team responded with two warning shots, UKMTO said in a statement on “X”. The small craft then changed course.

UKMTO urged ships transiting the area to exercise caution and report suspicious activity while authorities investigate.
