Baku buses carried more than 2 million passengers on Sept. 15 as the new academic year began, marking a record daily figure.
The Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency told "Operative Information Center-OMM" that more than 2 million passengers used buses in Baku on Sept. 15.
The figure was 300,000 passengers, or 18%, higher than on the same day last year.
Passenger traffic increased significantly across the capital’s public transport system on the first day of the new academic year, leading to greater use of buses.
The start of the academic year traditionally increases demand for public transport in Baku, as students and staff return to schools and universities alongside regular commuters.
