Russia is responding to Ukrainian attacks in the Black Sea, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Friday, according to the state-run Tass news agency.
What the Kremlin said about the attacks
Speaking to journalists, Peskov said Ukraine “must pay a price” for carrying out maritime attacks. “It is already paying, and it will continue to pay,” he said.
Peskov said Moscow was continuing what it calls its “special military operation” in Ukraine, which began in 2022. He said one of its key objectives was to stop maritime shipments of ammunition, military equipment and fuel to the Ukrainian armed forces.
Moscow says it wants a comprehensive agreement
“The Kyiv regime shows no inclination toward comprehensive agreements, and piecemeal ones cannot bring us any closer to a peaceful settlement. Agreements must be comprehensive,” Peskov said.
He added that Russian President Vladimir Putin had said the previous day that Moscow did not need a truce but wanted peace.
