President Ilham Aliyev receives new ambassadors

President Ilham Aliyev received the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to Azerbaijan, Berlian Helmi, on January 30.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the head of state held a discussion with the ambassador following the official presentation ceremony.

President Ilham Aliyev recalled his previous contacts with the Indonesian President in Davos and Sharm El-Sheikh, noting that he had extended an invitation for an official visit to Azerbaijan. Highlighting a significant milestone in diplomatic relations, the President expressed gratitude to all member states, including Indonesia, for supporting Azerbaijan's admission as the first country to join the Developing-8 (D-8) Organization for Economic Cooperation after its founding. He characterized this support as a reflection of the respect and brotherhood shown toward Azerbaijan.

Expressing satisfaction with the development of bilateral ties, President Ilham Aliyev emphasized the importance of further strengthening cooperation in politics, economy, mutual investment, and business contacts. Ambassador Berlian Helmi thanked the head of state for the reception and pledged to work diligently to enhance friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two nations and their peoples.

On the same day, President Ilham Aliyev also received the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Norway to Azerbaijan, Andreas Gaarder.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the head of state emphasized the importance of developing bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Norway. The President noted that while cooperation began in the energy sector, there are significant opportunities to expand relations into other fields.

Ambassador Andreas Gaarder congratulated President Ilham Aliyev on the achievements made regarding the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia. The President expressed his gratitude for the congratulations and affirmed that Azerbaijan will continue its efforts to strengthen regional peace. The ambassador also confirmed that Norway would be represented by a high-level delegation at the upcoming World Urban Forum to be held in Azerbaijan.

During the meeting, the sides discussed energy security, noting that both Azerbaijan and Norway serve as key energy suppliers to the European Union. The exchange of views also covered the bilateral agenda, including trade, renewable energy, investments, business networking, and the establishment of regional transport links. The effective partnership within the framework of COP30 was also highly commended.

These diplomatic meetings underscore Azerbaijan's active foreign policy and its commitment to diversifying international partnerships. By engaging with both Southeast Asian and European partners, Baku continues to solidify its role as a strategic hub for energy security and regional cooperation. The presentation of credentials is a formal diplomatic process that marks the official beginning of an ambassador's tenure in the host country, facilitating high-level dialogue on shared economic and political interests.
