North Korea on Friday rejected South Korea’s accusation that North Korean mines seriously wounded South Korean soldiers in the Demilitarized Zone, state news agency KCNA reported.

Kim Yo Jong, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, described as “groundless” Seoul’s claim that the blast resulted from mines deliberately laid by the North. She urged South Korea to stop efforts to “tarnish the image” of North Korea.

South Korea said the September 21 explosions were caused by North Korean mines inside the 4-kilometre (2.5-mile) wide border zone that stretches across the Korean Peninsula. Three South Korean soldiers were injured, two of them seriously, and the country’s military demanded an apology from North Korea.
