Authorities are continuing a large-scale investigation into a serious mine accident in Soma district, Manisa province, Türkiye, that killed five people and injured two.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that nine suspects considered responsible for the incident have been detained as part of an investigation coordinated by the Soma Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The detainees include the mine’s general director and deputy director, officials responsible for geological surveys, production, occupational safety and technical mechanics, a shift supervisor, and two engineers.
Authorities said the suspects would be handed over to judicial authorities after preliminary questioning and processing at a gendarmerie unit, so they can be brought before the court.
