Israel forward sent off for gun gesture during Nations League defeat

Israel forward Saied Abu Farchi was sent off after making a gun-firing gesture with the corner flag during his team’s 3-1 Nations League defeat by Austria on Thursday.

According to the source, the 20-year-old headed Israel’s equaliser in the 55th minute at the Raiffeisen Arena in Linz, after Austria had taken the lead through Romano Schmid’s first-half penalty.

Abu Farchi ran towards the corner, grabbed the flag and used it to imitate a gun while celebrating. The referee had booked him four minutes earlier before showing him a second yellow card for the gesture, leaving Israel with 10 players.
