Yemen’s Houthi group said Saudi Arabia carried out airstrikes on the capital, Sanaa, and the provinces of Saada, Taiz and Amran on Thursday.
The Houthi-run “SABA” news agency said aircraft it identified as Saudi targeted Sanaa and several locations in the three provinces. It gave no details about the sites hit, casualties or damage.
Yemen’s military reports strikes in Taiz
Separately, Yemen’s military said 27 airstrikes targeted Houthi positions and gathering points in the southwestern province of Taiz.
Military spokesman Col. Majid Abdullah al-Nuzaili said the targets included a missile depot, command and control centres, supply and weapons sites, gatherings of Houthi fighters and military vehicles.
Al-Nuzaili said the strikes destroyed dozens of military vehicles and other assets, and killed or wounded a number of Houthi fighters.
Saudi Arabia reports interceptions
Earlier, Saudi-led coalition spokesman Brig. Gen. Turki al-Maliki said on “X” that air defences had intercepted and destroyed drones and ballistic missiles launched towards the Saudi cities of Khamis Mushait and Jazan.
Al-Maliki also said the Houthis had targeted the Taiba power station in Saudi Arabia’s Medina with a drone two days earlier.
Yemen has been in a civil war since the Houthis seized Sanaa and several provinces in September 2014. The Saudi-led Arab coalition has supported Yemen’s internationally recognised government since March 2015.
