Yemen’s army said late Tuesday that it had carried out 414 attacks against Houthi targets across multiple fronts during the previous 24 hours, according to the official Saba news agency.
Military spokesman Majed al-Nuzaili said the operations focused on Houthi reinforcements and military capabilities. He added that the attacks caused losses among Houthi fighters and damaged military equipment, but did not provide figures.
The Houthis had not immediately commented on the army’s claims.
Earlier operations reported by Yemen’s Defense Ministry
On Monday, the Defense Ministry said government forces had conducted 356 operations against Houthi targets on 10 fronts. It claimed that 476 members of the group had been killed or wounded.
Yemen conflict
Yemen has been embroiled in conflict since the Houthis seized Sanaa and several provinces in 2014. A Saudi-led coalition intervened the following year in support of Yemen’s internationally recognized government.
Fighting intensified in September, when the Houthis captured several key areas in the provinces of Al-Hudaydah and Taiz, including the strategic city of Mokha. The group also reached Mayyun Island, which overlooks the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
