Saudi air defenses intercepted and destroyed two drones launched by Yemen’s Houthis toward the Riyadh region early Saturday, according to a statement by the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen.
Coalition spokesman Turki al-Maliki said Saudi forces were monitoring missile and drone threats directed at the kingdom.
Renewed fighting in Yemen
The Houthis have been engaged in renewed fighting with Saudi-backed government forces since Yemen’s civil war reignited in July.
The group declared a maritime blockade on Riyadh at the time, according to the report.
